Captain's Chair Ab Exercise
Anyone serious about getting washboard abs will tell you that it takes a lot of hard work. You can spend years trying to develop rock hard abs, but what is needed to get them quickly is more intense stomach exercises repeated more frequently. Doing sit-ups every other day does not constitute a tough abdominal workout.
There are a lot of exercises that can be done in the comfort of your own home without of the use of any equipment. These include the traditional crunches and various forms of sit ups as well as a number of others. This requires you to work the abdominals very directly. When exercising on the captains chair, you should be sure that your stomach is doing the work. If you swing your legs to make it easier you can do yourself harm, as well as deny yourself the best possible abdominal workout.
Another item of equipment that is very helpful in toning abs is an exercise ball. This simple item can be purchased at a fairly low cost and you can use it in your own home. Every gym will also have exercise balls available for use in your workout.
The exercise ball is used while doing your sit-ups and crunches. You sit on the edge of the ball and lay back and do your exercises from there. The reason the exercise ball is so effective is that your body is involved, not only in sitting up, but also in balancing on the ball. This means that you are working many more muscles than while doing these exercises on the floor.
Although it is nice to be able to do your abdominal workout at home – and you should – it is also important to keep in mind that there are other exercises that can really help you to get the well defined abs that you are looking for. Equipment such as the captains chair and exercise ball can help you get results.
